The University for Protestant Church Music of the Protestant Lutheran Church in Bavaria, also known as Hochschule für evangelische Kirchenmusik Bayreuth, is a state-recognized church university located in Bayreuth, Bavaria. Founded in 2000, it continues the tradition of previous institutions, including the Kirchenmusikschule in Erlangen and the Bayreuther Fachakademie für evangelische Kirchenmusik. The university offers practical, applied studies with a special focus on pedagogy, preparing students for careers in church music and related fields. Programs include Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Evangelical Church Music, Piano Pedagogy, Organ, and Conducting with a focus on choral conducting. The university is equipped with eight organs, 28 pianos and grand pianos, five harpsichords, a clavichord, Orff instruments, instruments for popular music, and offers instrument loans. Students have access to a library, computer workstations, nine practice rooms with organs or pianos, 14 teaching rooms, three common rooms, two study rooms, and a chapel. The university is financed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, the Free State of Bavaria, and the 'Foundation for the University of Protestant Church Music.'
