The University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia (HSPV NRW) is a public institution established in 1976. It is the largest of Germany's approximately 30 universities of applied sciences for public administration, with around 14,000 students. The university offers dual-track bachelor's programs that combine theoretical education with practical training, ensuring graduates are prepared for immediate employment in public service roles. HSPV NRW's main administrative office is located in Gelsenkirchen, with decentralized campuses in cities including Aachen, Cologne, Duisburg, Dortmund, Hagen, Herne, Bielefeld, and Münster. The university offers six degree courses across two faculties: Police (B.A.) and General Public Administration (LL.B., B.A., MPM). Approximately 60% of students are trained to become future police officers in North Rhine-Westphalia, while others prepare for roles in local communities or regional government. The university participates in the EU's ERASMUS+ program, offering international students the opportunity to study in Cologne, provided they meet the language requirements.
