The Theologische Fakultät Paderborn is the oldest university in Westphalia, founded on September 10, 1614, by Prince-Bishop Dietrich IV von Fürstenberg as a Jesuit university with faculties of philosophy and theology. It was confirmed by Pope Paul V and Emperor Matthias, granting it all academic rights. The faculty offers degrees such as Magister Theologiae, doctorate, and licentiate in Catholic Theology.
