SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, established in 1969, is one of the oldest private universities in Germany. Initially founded as an institution for the professional rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, it expanded its admissions in 1991 to include private students, diversifying its academic programs and student body. In 2004, the university received accreditation from the German Science Council and relocated to the newly constructed Science Tower on its Heidelberg campus. The university introduced the CORE (Competence Oriented Research and Education) study model in 2012, emphasizing competency-based learning. As of the summer semester of 2023, SRH University Heidelberg enrolled approximately 2,840 students and employed 528 staff members, including 81 professors. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in various fields, including Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Architecture, Social Work, Psychology, and Therapy Sciences. Programs are structured to combine academic instruction with applied components, organized through several faculties, and follow a modular study format.
